Multi-Day Horseback Adventures & Remote Wilderness Camping

Ride deep into Montana’s backcountry and experience it the way few visitors ever do. Sage Peak Outfitters offers fully outfitted wilderness horseback trips into our remote mountain camp, with guided riding, hearty meals, comfortable wall-tent accommodations, and days spent exploring the surrounding country.
Sage Peak’s Signature Montana Wilderness Pack Trip
Ride into the backcountry. Stay awhile.
Experience Montana beyond the road on a private 3-day, 2-night horseback adventure into our remote wilderness camp near Big Sky and Yellowstone.
Your trip begins on horseback as we leave the trailhead behind and ride approximately eight miles into the Montana backcountry. Once at camp, settle in, slow down, and experience the mountains the way they were meant to be experienced — away from crowds, traffic, and everyday distractions.
Our wilderness camp provides a comfortable home base for your stay, with traditional wall-tent accommodations, cots and sleeping bags, woodstoves, hearty home-cooked meals, and experienced guides.
Your Wilderness Stay
Every trip is designed around your group and the kind of Montana experience you want to have. Spend your time exploring the surrounding country on horseback, learning backcountry horsemanship, hiking, watching wildlife, relaxing at camp, or simply enjoying the quiet of the wilderness.
A typical three-day trip includes:
Day 1 – Ride Into Camp
Meet your guides and horses at the trailhead and begin the approximately eight-mile horseback ride into our remote wilderness camp. Settle into your wall tent, enjoy a hearty dinner, and spend your first evening surrounded by Montana wilderness.
Day 2 – Explore the Backcountry
Wake up to breakfast and a full day in the mountains. Your guide will tailor the day to your group, whether that means scenic horseback riding, exploring nearby trails, learning backcountry horsemanship, hiking, wildlife viewing, or relaxing around camp. Return in the evening for dinner and another night under Montana’s big sky.
Day 3 – Breakfast & Ride Out
Enjoy your final morning in camp before saddling up for the ride back to the trailhead.
Comfortable Backcountry Accommodations
Remote doesn’t have to mean uncomfortable.
Our established wilderness camp features spacious wall tents with woodstoves, cots and sleeping bags, along with a large cook tent where guests gather for meals. Hot, hearty meals are prepared throughout your stay so you can spend your time enjoying the mountains instead of worrying about camp logistics.
We’ll take care of the horses, meals, camp, and details. You bring your sense of adventure.
