Early September through mid October.

General Rifle Elk Hunting Season Dates

Late October to late November.

I-161 Passed – What does this mean for Non-Resident Hunters?

Non-residents must enter the lottery to draw their hunting license. The non resident draw has a preference point system and we are now able to purchase an extra outfitter preference point to increase success in the draw.

Non-Resident Montana Hunting Licenses

Sage Peak Outfitters offers free services for obtaining Montana hunting licenses to booked hunters. It is easiest and most convenient to purchase your hunting license online. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks usually releases new Rules and Regulations in January of each year.

Wilderness Area Montana Elk Hunting Licenses

Wilderness Area Montana Elk Hunting Licenses are available. The following combination hunting licenses also include: conservation, deer, elk, state lands, upland bird (excluding turkey), and season fishing.

    Bull Elk and Buck Deer Season Archery and Rifle

    Notes: Although we primarily hunt elk in the wilderness, this hunting license allows hunters to continue hunting mule deer bucks after a bull elk is harvested; furthermore, it allows hunters to shoot that muley buck which happens across an elk hunt.
